This is the second Data Update and provides an update of last year’s review with the addition of 2021 data. Indicator status (negative, neutral, or positive – see table below) was determined relative to the percentiles of the stock assessment time series (i.e., data set start year through 2018).
Fisheries Management
The Interstate Fisheries Management Program (ISFMP) serves as the core of decision-making, where species management boards establish regulations to conserve fishery resources, supported by an active participation framework. The ISFMP Policy Board oversees this, monitoring stock performance and policy implementation with representation from all member states and several federal agencies.

The Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass Board and Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council (MAFMC or Council) initiated this Amendment because the allocation percentages do not reflect the current understanding of the recent and historic proportions of catch and landings from the two sectors.

The Striped Bass Technical Committee (TC) and Stock Assessment Subcommittee (SAS) met via webinar on September 22, 2022 to discuss the 2022 stock assessment update report, discuss fishery-dependent sampling for the commercial fishery, and receive an update on Draft Addendum I.
