The Interstate Fisheries Management Program (ISFMP) serves as the core of decision-making, where species management boards establish regulations to conserve fishery resources, supported by an active participation framework. The ISFMP Policy Board oversees this, monitoring stock performance and policy implementation with representation from all member states and several federal agencies.

The Spiny Dogfish Technical Committee (TC) met on October 16, 2008 to review the 2008 NEFSC spawning stock biomass (SSB) update and recommend a quota and possession limit for the 2009/2010+ fishing season(s).

The Advisory Panel met on October 29, 2008, in Portland, Maine. The two main agenda items were (1) reviewing the previous fishing season and current assessment; and (2) discussion recommendations for shrimp management in the future.
