The Striped Bass Technical Committee (TC) met by conference call in December and January to develop and approve the attached reports responding to the Management Board’s five tasks from November 2009.
Fisheries Management
The Interstate Fisheries Management Program (ISFMP) serves as the core of decision-making, where species management boards establish regulations to conserve fishery resources, supported by an active participation framework. The ISFMP Policy Board oversees this, monitoring stock performance and policy implementation with representation from all member states and several federal agencies.

The Board and Council met in December of 2009 to establish the 2010 recreational management program. At this meeting, the Board and Council agreed that the states would implement conservational equivalent measures rather than implement a coastwide management program.

The purpose of this addendum is to respond to the results of the most recent weakfish stock assessment. The addendum revises the biological reference points and implements new or revised regulations to reduce the level of fishery removals.

The management units for summer flounder, scup, and black sea bass remain unchanged in this Addendum. Specifically, the management unit for scup and black sea bass in US waters is the western Atlantic Ocean from Cape Hatteras, North Carolina northward to the US-Canadian border.
