On the basis of a recommendation of the ASMFC Committee on Economics and Social Sciences, a short workshop to discuss the potential for using bioeconomic models to improve the information provided to Commission members as they make management decisions was held July 23-25, 2002. The objective of the meeting was to collect biological and economic data on the striped bass fishery and apply it to a simulation model developed by Lee Anderson to provide a real world example of how to build a bioeconomic model and to demonstrate what kind of results are possible.
