Stock status based on 2025 data update; total abundance estimated at a time-series low and recruitment has remained below 20th percentile for the past 3 years. Index of predation pressure and winter surface temperature showed improvement in the most recent year of data. Moratorium in place since 2014 and extended to 2028 to protect remaining spawning population. Amendment 4 (2025) provides Section the ability to set moratoria for up to 5 years, if desired.
