The Transboundary Resource Assessment Committee (TRAC) met during 10-14 February, 2003 in the Conference Center, Biological Station, St Andrews, NB, Canada, to a assess the Gulf of Maine-Georges Bank Atlantic herring complex.

The following report presents the results of the Technical Committee’s 2004 stock assessment.

This report summarizes results of catch-age based virtual population analyses (VPA) of Atlantic striped bass for 2003. The VPA analysis provides estimates of fishing mortality, stock abundance, and biomass for the mixed coastal stock.

The Terms of Reference and Advisory Report provides summary information concerning the Atlantic croaker stock assessment and results of the SEDAR review to evaluate the accuracy of the data and assessment methods for this species.

The Atlantic Coast striped bass stock is assessed with two separate methods: 1) catch-age based virtual population analysis, and 2) tag release-recovery based survival estimation. Each program is presented in this report as separate segments.
