The Interstate Fisheries Management Program (ISFMP) serves as the core of decision-making, where species management boards establish regulations to conserve fishery resources, supported by an active participation framework. The ISFMP Policy Board oversees this, monitoring stock performance and policy implementation with representation from all member states and several federal agencies.

The Weakfish Technical Committee and Stock Assessment Subcommittee met via webinar to begin planning the next assessment update for weakfish, which is scheduled to be completed in early 2025. In addition to informing the management of weakfish, the results of this update will also support the Ecological Reference Point Benchmark Assessment for Atlantic menhaden.

The Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council’s (Council) and the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission’s (Commission) Bluefish Advisory Panels (AP) met via webinar on June 22, 2023 to review the Fishery Information Document and develop the following Fishery Performance Report. The primary purpose of this report is to contextualize catch histories by providing information about fishing effort, market trends, environmental changes, and other factors.

The June 28 meeting is a follow-up to the June5 TC-PDT meeting.
