The Draft Addendum proposes the use of state-by-state or regional measures to manage the 2013 black sea bass recreational fishery. The management plan for black sea bass does not provide an opportunity to craft recreational measures by regions or state, it only allows for a coastwide measure. Arlington, VA – The Commission’s Summer Flounder, Scup and Black Sea Bass Board will meet via a web-based conference call on April 20, 2011 at 2:00 PM. The Board will consider approval of state proposals for their 2011 recreational black sea bass fisheries, as well as review and consider terms of reference for the upcoming black sea bass assessment. The Board chose to meet via conference call in April to provide the states the necessary administrative time to implement their measures before the start of the 2011 fishery. Arlington, VA – The Commission’s Northern Shrimp Section will hold a meeting via conference call on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 11:00 AM. The purpose of the call is to review preliminary northern shrimp landings data and discuss potential management options to prevent significant landings overages that might occur if the fishery continues through April 15. The Northern Shrimp Section set the 2010/2011 fishing season at 136 days with the intention that landings would not exceed 4,000 metric tons.
