South Atlantic cobia has not been previously assessed under the SEDAR process. Historically, cobia has been overseen by the Mackerel Stock Assessment Panel (MSAP) under the purview of the Coastal Migratory Pelagics Fishery Management Plan. The most recent assessment of South Atlantic cobia was done in 1995 (Thompson 1995).
