This Addendum modifies the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission’s (ASMFC) Interstate Fishery Management Plan for Atlantic Coastal Sharks by establishing new species groups for coastal sharks and a new recreational size limit for hammerhead sharks consistent with Amendment 5a to the 2006 Consolidated Highly Migratory Species Fishery Management Plan.

The Coastal Sharks Technical Committee (TC) held a conference call to discuss Draft Addendum III to the Coastal Sharks Fishery Management Plan (FMP) and NOAA Fisheries’ 2014 coastal shark specifications. The TC also discussed issues with the shark research permits and grouping smooth dogfish in with Florida smoothhound sharks.

The Coastal Sharks Technical Committee (TC) held a conference call to discuss possible impacts to state fisheries if dusky sharks and/or great hammerhead sharks are listed under the Endangered Species Act. The TC also reviewed the recent North Carolina study concerning smoothhound fin-to-carcass ratios.
