Fisheries Management
The Interstate Fisheries Management Program (ISFMP) serves as the core of decision-making, where species management boards establish regulations to conserve fishery resources, supported by an active participation framework. The ISFMP Policy Board oversees this, monitoring stock performance and policy implementation with representation from all member states and several federal agencies.

NEW JERSEY’S STRIPED BASS CONSERVATION EQUIVALENCY PROPOSAL FOR 2004

The Atlantic Menhaden Technical Committee (TC) met on September 23, 2004 in Manchester, NH for the first non-assessment year review of the stock of Atlantic menhaden. In August, 2004 the Atlantic Menhaden Management Board approved Addendum 1 to Amendment 1 to the Atlantic Menhaden Fishery Management Plan (FMP).

The Atlantic Croaker Advisory Panel (AP) met for the first time on September 29, 2004 in Raleigh, NC.

The TC reviewed the tautog landings from the various states. Two trends of note were that states that implemented management reductions saw recreational declines while states that did not implement management reductions saw increases in recreational catches.

This addendum establishes Black Sea Bass commercial management measures for January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2007 before the current addendum expires on December 31, 2004.
