There were two major issues that were discussed during this call. 1) A possible split of the Atlantic croaker management unit at Cape Hatteras. 2) Monitoring requirements to be included in Amendment 1.
Fisheries Management
The Interstate Fisheries Management Program (ISFMP) serves as the core of decision-making, where species management boards establish regulations to conserve fishery resources, supported by an active participation framework. The ISFMP Policy Board oversees this, monitoring stock performance and policy implementation with representation from all member states and several federal agencies.

The meeting was attended by representatives from FL, NY, NJ, MD, NC, RI, CT, and DE. Three topics were on the agenda: sampling requirements, projections of stock status, and management tactics for reducing F based on current fishery catches.

The addendum is intended to provide a species-specific mechanism of ensuring that a state meet its obligations under the plan in a way that minimizes the probability that a state’s delay in complying does not adversely affect other states’ fisheries or conservation of the resource. These measures are deemed critical for the long term conservation of the species. This Addendum does not propose to modify the existing compliance review and sanction process that is described in the ASMFC guidance documents and the ACFCMA.
