  • The Commission is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Fisheries Specialist – Quantitative Ecologist. Specifically, we are looking for a skilled quantitative ecologist familiar with modeling and statistical analysis of wildlife and fish populations. The ideal candidate will be experienced with both Bayesian and frequentist statistical modeling, be comfortable writing code for common statistical programs (i.e., R) and be willing to work on both terrestrial and aquatic (freshwater and marine) data sets.   • Working directly with the NJ Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Bureau of Marine Fisheries (BMF), the Fisheries Biologist will be responsible for achieving the priorities and objectives established in a federally funded project proposal, including coordinating with state and regional partners; outreach and education; contributing to reviews of internal and external documentation regarding threatened and endangered species; and providing technical support to marine mammal research projects and other regional initiatives. The position is based in southern New Jersey but will require interaction and collaboration with partners throughout the New England and MidAtlantic region.
